Welcome to the website of the laboratory led by Jinxin Liu at Nanjing Agricultural University !

The Liu lab is broadly interested in areas of antimicrobial resistance and gastrointestinal microbiology research. The increasing frequency of antimicrobial resistance is a significant threat to public health leaving us with limited options to deal with the emerging “superbugs” in clinics. The classic approach to conserving antibiotics is the prudent use paradigm; The Liu lab is more interested in developing novel strategies to reduce the general prevalence of antimicrobial resistance.

The gut microbiota is commonly recognized as a reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes. In addition, the microbiome structure is believed to be driven by diet. Our goal is to understand if the diet is linked with the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance. Understanding this relationship will offer the opportunity to limit the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance and keep the efficacy of our existing antibiotics.
